Funding programs and services has become increasingly problematic with Louisiana experiencing billion dollar budget reductions year after year.  The challenges presented by these budget reductions should serve as a call for advocates to educate policy makers to prioritize programs vital to support people with developmental disabilities in the community. Unfortunately, budget cuts have had a tremendous impact on services many individuals rely on to live in their community.  While this economic climate has presented opportunities to change the direction of Louisiana's over-reliance on large public developmental centers, the budget cuts to nearly every program have stretched beyond what can be considered 'efficiencies.'

Community services have recieved multiple rate cuts that have created challenges for people to find appropriate and/or reliable direct support professionals (DSPs).
