The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council is currently recruiting applicants who are
- individuals with developmental disabilities;
- parents of children with developmental disabilities; and
- immediate relatives or guardians of adults with intellectual developmental disabilities who cannot advocate for themselves.
The Council is looking for strong leaders and advocates who share the Council’s values and are able to commit the time necessary for Council membership. (See application form and Council website for more information.)
The Council is also seeking members from the following parishes:
Region I: Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard Parishes
Region II: East & West Baton Rouge, East & West Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, and Ascension Parishes
Region III: Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Mary, and Terrebonne Parishes
Region X: Jefferson Parish
The deadline for Regions I, II, III and X is September 1, 2012.
The Council’s Membership Committee will interview applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and make recommendations to the full Council. Applicants approved by the Council will be submitted to the Governor for appointment.
