The Council supports self-advocates and family members of persons with developmental disabilities to advocate for policies and practices that promote the self-determination, independence, productivity, integration and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life. This is accomplished by offering technical assistance and advising of training opportunities through stipends, partnerships, staff support, etc. to self-advocates statewide. Information on cross-disability and culturally diverse leadership coalitions is also provided to individuals with developmental disabilities to encourage participation on statewide boards, councils and committees.
