Over four years, through a contract with LSU’s Human Development Center, the Employment Consortium facilitated employment trainings to build the capacity of employment provider agencies to support individuals with developmental disabilities in finding community employment. In its first year, the Consortium developed a structure to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and resources across provider agencies, building competency among these agencies, and promoting competitive employment and career aspirations of people with significant disabilities. The second year saw the completion of a model and training materials for assisting employment provider agencies with supporting people with significant developmental disabilities through finding and maintaining competitive employment. In the final two years, the Consortium built capacity among employment provider agencies in supporting people with significant disabilities.
