TThe Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council (Council) is looking for a group to create a toolkit for employers.
The goal of the toolkit is to help more people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) find jobs in Louisiana.
The toolkit will help employers learn:
- Why people with I/DD can be good employees
- How hiring people with I/DD can benefit a business
- How to find and hire people with I/DD
- How to make job postings easier to understand
- How to provide reasonable accommodations
- What job coaches and employment specialists can do
- What tax credits and other supports may be available
- How to support employees with I/DD at work
- Where employers can go for help
The toolkit should be easy to understand and easy to use. It should include information that is helpful to business owners, human resources staff, hiring managers, and supervisors.
People with I/DD and employers will help guide the toolkit as it is created.
The group chosen for this project will also help share the toolkit with employers across Louisiana.
The project will begin October 1, 2026, and end September 30, 2027.
Up to $45,000 is available for this project.
