The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council and LaCAN are joining the Split Second Foundation, the Governor’s Advisory Council on Disability Affairs, and many other groups for Disability Awareness Day.
📅 Date: Monday, June 2, 2025
📍 Place: Louisiana State Capitol, Baton Rouge
🕘 Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
🎯 Theme: Resilience – Anybody’s Life Can Change in a Split Second
What is this day about?
Disability Awareness Day is a special day to:
- Help people with disabilities share their stories
- Teach lawmakers about the challenges people with disabilities face
- Ask for better laws that help everyone live a better and more accessible life in Louisiana
This is a day to remind lawmakers that anyone’s life can change quickly because of a disability.
That’s why it’s important to have good support systems in place.
👉 Wear yellow and come help us show lawmakers how important disability services are!
Special Event
There will be a panel discussion at 2:00 PM at the Louisiana State Museum (right across from the Capitol). People will talk about how disability and money issues are connected, how disability can affect jobs and how including people with disabilities can help our communities grow.
It’s free to attend, but you need to sign up:
