Join the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council!
The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council is looking for new members from across the state. Do you want to help make things better for people with developmental disabilities and their families? Do you believe people with disabilities should be included in all parts of life — like school, work, and community activities? If yes, we encourage you to apply to be a Council member!
Who can apply?
You can apply if you are:
A person with a developmental disability
A parent or guardian of a child with a developmental disability
A close relative or guardian of an adult with a developmental disability who cannot speak up for themselves
Right now, we are especially looking for people from these areas:
- Central Louisiana (Alexandria/Pineville and surrounding areas)
- Northwest Louisiana (Shreveport/Bossier and surrounding areas)
- Northeast Louisiana (Monroe and surrounding areas)
Important Information:
- The deadline to apply is August 29, 2025
- Members are chosen by the Governor and usually serve for four years
- A committee reviews all applications and sends recommendations to the Governor
- The Council follows federal rules for who can serve
