LaDDC News: Taking Action Against Abuse Workshops

The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council is partnering with Team Dynamics to offer nine (9) workshops across the state where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), caregivers, families, and community partners will gain the knowledge and skills needed to recognize, prevent, and respond to abuse and neglect.

Sessions will cover the

• Definitions and signs of abuse,
• Importance of self-advocacy, and
• Steps for reporting abuse/neglect and intervention.

Each training will have activities, discussions, and exercises to strengthen people’s ability to take protective action. Through awareness, confidence, and collaboration, this training will empower individuals with IDD and their support networks to create safer, more supportive environments.
