What to Expect at LaCAN’s Regional Roundtables

Legislative Regional Roundtables are hosted each year in every region of the state. They are usually held in January or February. Roundtables are a partnership between the DD Council, LaCAN, and Families Helping Families. Roundtables may run differently in each region to meet local needs, but the information is the same across the state.

Every roundtable is an opportunity for LaCAN members and policymakers to connect and share important information.

At roundtables, LaCAN members:

  • Learn or improve their advocacy skills
  • Hear about what is happening in the state that affects people with developmental disabilities and their families
  • Learn what issues need grassroots advocacy
  • Meet with local policymakers
  • Share how they are personally affected by different policies

Roundtable are usually 2-3 hours long. They usually include a free meal (typically breakfast).
