The DD Act defines nine areas of emphasis (Community Supports, Employment, Education and Early Intervention, Child Care, Health, Quality Assurance, Recreation, Transportation and Housing) from which Councils can choose where to focus their efforts.
In January 2016, the Council ratified a new Five Year Plan which will be in effect from FFY 2017 to FFY 2021. The Plan contains goals and objectives for the following areas: Advocacy and Leadership Development, Community Supports, Education, Early Intervention and Child Care, Transition, and Employment. The FFY 2021 Action Plan begins October 1, 2020.
The Council uses its two priority committees to monitor plan activities. The two committees and the goals for which they are responsible are:
Self Determination/Community Inclusion Committee
- Advocacy and Leadership Development
- Community Supports
Education/Employment Committee
- Education/Early Intervention
- Employment
- Child Care
