The DD Act defines nine areas of emphasis (Community Supports, Employment, Education and Early Intervention, Child Care, Health, Quality Assurance, Recreation, Transportation, and Housing) from which Councils can choose where to focus their efforts.
In January 2021, the Council ratified a new Five-Year Plan which will be in effect from FFY 2022 to FFY 2026. The Plan contains goals and objectives for the following areas: Self-Advocacy and Advocacy Leadership, Community Living and Supports, Housing, Education, and Employment. The FFY 2022 Action Plan, which begins October 1, 2021, will mark the first annual plan based on the 2022-2026 Five-Year Plan.
The Council uses its two priority committees to monitor plan activities. The two committees and the goals for which they are responsible are:
Self Determination/Community Inclusion Committee
- Self-Advocacy and Advocacy Leadership
- Community Living and Supports
Education/Employment Committee
- Education
- Employment
