The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council has partnered with The Arc of Louisiana to offer 18 statewide training opportunities to expand and enhance advocacy skills of students with disabilities, their families, and stakeholders to identify and follow current, new, and/or proposed changes in policies around special education and employment for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). Individuals with disabilities, their families, and other interested organizations and stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
Attendees will gain valuable information about:
- How to increase advocacy in education and employment
- How to identify and follow new and/or proposed changes in policies around special education and employment for individuals with I/DD at the district, state, and federal levels
- The special education landscape and improved access and opportunities for competitive employment for individuals with I/DD
- Employment policies and requirements in employment/labor laws and regulations on inclusive and competitive hiring practices
These trainings are free to attend, but registration is required.
